DeSean Jackson Ready For MNF

DeSean Jackson Ready For MNF

20121105-184712.jpg

DeSean Jackson is “turnt” for this Monday Night Football game against the Saints. Yay?

Is he really excited to play? Is he hurt from turning his ankle funny? Is that a really expensive pair of sunglasses? Does anything go through DeSean’s mind besides RACKS ON RACKS ON RACKS on a constant loop?

The answer is yes. Ladies and gentlemen you now have a legitimate reason to watch the Eagles tonight. Enjoy.

Harold Carmichael Confirms Why I Love When Twitter And Old People Meet

Twitter? Can't say I know her.

Harold Carmichael is easily one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Eagles WR of all-time. There’s big Harold, Tommy McDonald, and the rest (Mike Quick, Irving Fryer?, Cris Carter if he kicked his drug habit and stuck around). Standing at 6’8, catching 79 TD receptions (18th all-time), part of the ’70′s All-Decade team, and one hell of a nice guy, Carmichael can pretty much say whatever he wants to anyone in person, and on Twitter, and have it be totally acceptable.  Combine that with him getting up there in age, cause you just don’t know what’s on old people’s minds at any given time – and you’ve got some good stuff.  So here are some of Harold Carmichael’s greatest Tweets.

Harold’s few and far-between Tweets basically fall under a few simple categories:

General Advice, with no context or warning:

Tornado updates, with actual warnings:

Crabs:

Coach Fired After Eagles Game

Coach Fired After Eagles Game

"Time's yours, Tony. You're going to have a lot of it on your hands. I recommend the Cheese of the Month Club."

What? The Eagles won AND Andy Reid was fired?!? Epic Win!

Wait, it was the Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano that was fired? Do’h!

Take solace Eagles fans, we now know exactly what it will take to get Andy Reid fired. He needs to lose a football game to a team that is utterly inconsistent and also outrageously under performing.

Now how do we get the Eagles to play themselves…

Eagles Kid Hates Tom Brady. Needs To Grow Up And Hate Andy Reid Instead.

Eagles Kid Hates Tom Brady. Needs To Grow Up And Hate Andy Reid Instead.

Sorry kid, but this does nothing if you want your birds to win again. Now if you pull a cute spaz on Big Red and it goes viral, then you will officially be the face of the #OTL (Occupy The Linc) movement, and there will be no more tears, my child.

PS – Very probable that this kid was just mimicking Juan Castillo on the sidelines.

Kevin Kolb Prepares For Familiar Role In Return To Philadelphia

Kevin Kolb Prepares For Familiar Role In Return To Philadelphia

"I...I don't know know what to do with my hands. Can I get a clipboard?"

Kevin Kolb’s return to Philadelphia will be similar to the last time he suited up for a game at Lincoln Financial Field. He will be on the sidelines, watching Michael Vick start for the Philadelphia Eagles. Only this time, Kolb is doing it as a member of the visiting team, in this case the Arizona Cardinals. Kolb was traded to Arizona shortly after the lockout ended for cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second round pick in the 2012 NFL draft. That draft pick tips the scales on this trade towards the Eagles because Kolb and DRC both stink right now. DRC couldn’t cover Roy Williams last week which speaks for itself. Kolb is having a very average year and even worse his new team is just 2-6. If that wasn’t enough, he is listed as questionable for the game today with turf toe and he will most likely not play, which really must grind his gears.

Speaking of not playing, DeSean Jackson will be inactive for the game due to missing a special teams meeting this week because his alarm clock didn’t go off. Honest mistake right? Reuben Frank of Comcast SportsNet  recently tweeted that this may not have been an isolated incident. Could be the beginning of the end for D-Jax in Philly. Even without Jackson, the Eagles just can’t lose to a Cardinals team that doesn’t even have their starting quarterback. The Eagles made me look stupid last week when I predicted that they would easily beat Chicago, but I am all in on them this week. No way they lose. If they do I’ll strip naked and let Kolb hunt me down like a wild pig.

Eagles Look To Expose Bears On MNF

Eagles Look To Expose Bears On MNF

The Bears (4-3) have a better record than the Eagles (3-4) and are coming off a bye week. Eagles quarterback Mike Vick  is 0-3 as a starter against the Bears with a 76.2 passer rating. But when Chicago rolls into Philly for some Monday Night Football tomorrow the Eagles will show everyone that the Bears are who we thought they were. Their offensive line can’t pass protect. Their safeties can’t cover anyone. Matt Forte is their entire offense. Their quarterback is whiny douche bag Jay Cutler. So throw out the records and the numbers. Two things the Bears should expect to see a lot of are the backs of DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin’s jerseys as they catch bombs from Vick and the new craze in Philadelphia – Babining. It certainly won’t be the first time that the Eagles have exposed the Bears.

LeSean McCoy Pisses Excellence

LeSean McCoy Pisses Excellence

When the urinals are full, do what Shady does and just pull out your bird at the sink, kid.

Pardon me while I do the Ricky Bobby, but Eagles running back LeSean McCoy is a big, hairy, American winning machine. Sal Paolantonio was on 97.5 The Fanatic this afternoon talking with Mike Missanelli and he made it clear that in his opinion McCoy is the second most important player to his team in the NFC behind Aaron Rodgers. Think about that for a second. Quarterback is the most important position on a football team and other than the reigning Super Bowl MVP, Sal Pal wants us to believe that McCoy is more valuable to his team than any NFC signal caller. Not Drew Brees, not Matty Ice, not even Eli Manning. Imagine how average the Saints, Falcons, and Giants would be without their starting quarterback. What would the Lions record be if Matt Stafford couldn’t drop back and toss it up to Megatron ten times a game? What about the Vikings and Bears who rely very heavily on Adrian Peterson and Matt Forte respectively? According to Sal Pal, Shady is the real McCoy (sorry, couldn’t help it).

If Sal is right than I would hate to know what the Eagles record would be right now without LeSean. Even if he is just blowing smoke up our asses, McCoy is having a monster year. He is currently ranked second in the league with 754 rushing yards and is also second among running backs in yards per carry with 5.6. He is one shy of the lead in 20+ yard runs and rushing touchdowns with 8 in both categories. He leads the league in rushing yards per game with 107.7 and rushing first downs with 48. Incredibly, he hasn’t lost a fumble either. If that is not pissing excellence I don’t know what is. Andy Reid has never had a running back carry the ball 28+ times in consecutive weeks until McCoy did this year against the Redskins and Cowboys. Sal Pal is right about one thing – if the Eagles are going to make a run at winning the division and making the playoffs it will be by riding LeSean McCoy. Maybe he is that important after all.

A New Low? Perennial Loser Eric Mangini Says Screw You To The Birds

A New Low? Perennial Loser Eric Mangini Says Screw You To The Birds

PFT - The Eagles tried to quiet down all the negativity in Philadelphia on Tuesday by deflecting the defensive consultant issue.  The team said they weren’t hiring a defensive consultant.  That doesn’t mean they didn’t try to.  ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio reported Wednesday morning that Eric Mangini was the team’s first choice for the gig, but he turned down the offer. Mangini is now working at ESPN.

Just as we rip PFT, they come out with this little gem.  Mangini, who was decent as the Patriots devensive coordinator before he went and embarrassed himself as a head coach with the Jets and Browns and became affectionately known as ‘Mangina’, was offered to come in as a ‘defensive consultant’ to the Eagles.

Which spurs 2 important thoughts: 1)  Juan Castillo is done as the DC.  and 2) This team reeks of desperation if the idiotic and smug as Andy Reid’s balls Mangini is the first choice to come in.

Mangina also is known for running the 3-4 system.  Not really sure how that would help coming in mid-season to give this team some support this 4-3/wide-9/no sac of a mess.  Maybe he can come in and teach this team how to tackle.

I know it’s been almost 2 years now, but I’m almost certain if we get Jim Johnson’s corpse it would still be a better defensive coach than the assfaces the Eagles currently have staffed.

UPDATE: Jeff McLane of the Philly Inquirer reported via Tweet  that Andy Reid has not been in contact with anyone for the defensive consultant position.  So somebody is fibbing….either Sal Pal, Reid, or McLane.

Eagles Look Impressive

Eagles Look Impressive

The Eagles need to get Juan Castillo some shoulder pads.

Many expected sloppy football last night due to the shortened off-season and the lack of tackling in training camps around the league. I can’t speak for every team but the Eagles certainly looked sharp in a 13-6 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

Defensively the Eagles were aggressive and showed a consistent pass rush. Joe Flacco and the Ravens starters had only 3 points in their first two series. After that Tyrod Taylor played most of the game and although he ran for 59 yards the Eagles defensive line was chasing him all night. The Eagles finished with 6 sacks and 2 interceptions, one by newly signed Jarrad Page and one by rookie Jaiquawn Jarrett. The announcers made it a point to mention that Juan Castillo and the other defensive coaches never let up coaching their guys up on the sidelines, which is important because Castillo especially needs the experience of calling an entire game defensively. Even though the starters didn’t play much, it looked like whoever was on the field played hard and fast for him. Daryl Tapp is probably the defensive player who stood out the most as he 2 sacks. He might really benefit this year from the addition of defensive line coach Jim Washburn and the shift in philosophy for the defensive line. They will be rushing the passer almost every play.

Eagles Bum Receivers

Eagles Bum Receivers

"Wait, I Could Have Had Reggie Wayne But I Picked Freddie Mitchell Instead? "

For your reading pleasure, I have decided to roll out a list of the Top 5 Eagles bum wide receivers. The combination of Jackson and Jeremy Maclin make the wide receiving corps young, fast, and deep, but any fan (or jealous ex-quarterback) will tell you that under Andy Reid it hasn’t always been this way. Reid has had more misses than hits at the wide receiver position since he took this team over, which is not good when you throw the football 98.37% of the time. So here goes with the best of the worst wide receivers the Eagles have had since Irving Fryar last suited up and before DeSean Jackson started performing miracles.

Andy's first crack at wide receivers came up Small

5. Charles Johnson and Torrance Small

These two receivers are paired together because they were both signed by Reid his first year as head coach in 1999 and they were both cut in 2001…to make room for two other guys who are on this list. Signed for Reid’s pass happy offense, they both put up similar numbers in their time here. In two years Johnson had 90 catches for 1,056 yards and eight touchdowns while Small had 89 catches for 1,224 yards and seven touchdowns. It’s expected that a number one receiver should eclipse all three of those marks in a single season, not two.

Redeeming Quality: They got it done. The Eagles improved dramatically behind Donovan McNabb and these two as his main targets, going from 5-11 in 99′ to 11-5 in 00′.
