4. 1988 Games 5-7 vs. Washington Capitals Semifinals - The year after the heartbreaking finals loss to oilers, there was high hopes for the Flyers, maybe this is their year. They went up 3-1 in this series versus the Capitals. Then went on to blow like a fat freshman skank at a frat party the next three games, for an early first round exit.
3. 1997 Games 1-4 vs. Detroit Sanley Cup Finals - The Infamous Detroit Dick Punch. Red Wings SweepFlyers. Enough said.
2. 2010 Game 6 vs. Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Championships - Patrick Kane’s overtime goal. Of all the anti-climatic finishes to an overtime championship game in history, this one has got to take the cake. Kane comes down the ice, shoots from such an impossible angle, it was almost plausible to question why Leighton was staying on his knees longer than Joe Buck when hes at Troy Aikmans for dinner. Kane was fist pumping and throwing his gloves down onto the ice…..wait, what just happened?? Then the reality sunk in…..yes, Chicago won the Stanley Cup.
1. 2000 Game 7 vs. New Jersey Devils Eastern Conference Finals - After returning from a 10 week hiatus due to other concussions, The E Train was looking unstoppable in his first few minutes back in play. That is until he skated across the neutral zone head down with the puck, and out of nowhere Scott Stevens delivered this crushing hit Lindros looked dead. So did the Flyers chances at advancing to the Stanley Cup.
Here’s to hoping we won’t have any more moments to add to this list during the 2011 Playoffs.
ORANGE AND BLACK!!!
